Plant growth lamp UL certification and structural requirements

UL released the first edition of the plant growth lamp standard UL8800 on May 4, 2017, which includes lighting equipment that is installed according to U.S. electrical work methods and used in horticultural environments.
As with other traditional UL standards, this standard also includes the following sections: 1. Parts and Components 2. Terminology 3. Structure 4. Personal Injury Protection 5. Test 6. Rating Plate and Instructions.
1, structure
The structure is based on compliance with UL1598, also need to achieve the following:
If the lamp housings or bezels are plastic and the housings are exposed to sunlight or light, the plastic used shall be UV resistant (ie with (f1)) as required by UL 1598 16.5.5 or UL 746C.
When connecting the power supply network, it must be connected according to the specified connection method.
The following connection methods are available:
According to UL1598 6.15.2 can be connected with a metal hose
You can use a soft cable connection (At least of the hard-service type, such as SJO, SJT, SJTW, etc., up to 4.5m)
Can be connected with a plug (NEMA standard) soft cable
Can use special wiring system connection
When there is a structure where the lamp and the lamp are interconnected, the secondary connector and the terminal structure can not be the same as the primary.
There are ground plugs, sockets, grounding pins or inserts, need to connect the ground priority connected.
2, the use of the environment
Must be Damp wet or Wet outdoor
3, IP54 dust and water level
Installation instructions must reflect the use of the environment, and require at least IP54 dust and water level (according to IEC60529).
When the lighting used in the wet location (at least will be subjected to raindrops or water splashing environment), that is, will be subjected to raindrops or water splashes and dust environment, requires a dustproof and waterproof rating of at least IP54.
4, the lamp can not issue harm to the human body light
According to IEC62471 non-GLS (general lighting services), the biosafety level of all light waves within 20 cm of the luminaire and between 280 and 1400 nm of the luminaire needs to be evaluated. (The assessed biosafety level needs to be Risk Group 0 (Exempt), Risk Group 1, or Risk Group 2; if the luminaire's replacement light source is fluorescent or HID, there is no need to assess the biophotonic safety rating.
